Trademark Licensing
In 1987, The University of Arkansas implemented a licensing program in order to preserve the use of its emblems, logos, and verbiage, primarily on specialty items. This program has helped in providing a successful relationship between the University of Arkansas, its licensees and retail partners. The U of A has partnered with The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) as its exclusive trademark-licensing representative to develop and expand the program. Governance of Printing
Printing at the University of Arkansas is managed by the procurement office of the Division of Business, which abides by Amendment 54 of the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, which states:
"The printing, stationery, and supplies purchased by the General Assembly and other departments of government shall be under contracts given to the lowest responsible bidder, below such maximum price and under such regulations as shall be prescribed by law. No member or officer of any department of government shall in any way be interested in such contracts."
According to the procurement office, items listed in Amendment 54 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansas are subject to special bidding requirements. The items listed are printing, stationery, and paper and inks used to produce stationery. For the purposes of Amendment 54, "printing" is defined as WET INK ON PAPER. Laser printing, quick copying and similar are not wet ink on paper. The office of purchasing may be contacted at 479-575-4158. Print, Mail and Copy Solutions may be contacted at 479-575-2404.
